Our brains are always thinking about how to add awesome-sauce to everything.  For example, I think laser should be spelled with a ‘z’, as in Lazer.  Because lazers are cool enough for a z.  Yes I know what you nerds are thinking, laser actually stands for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation.  I don’t care, because I got to play with Sector 67’s laser last week.  🙂  Nerd points!

I went to Sector to add some awesome-sauce to our jewelry, cutting out felt for the back of your jewelry to make them more comfortable.  I’d love to take credit for the idea, but it was a suggestion from an instructables commenter.  Those people are so smart.

I first tried cutting out the butterfly on white felt.

It worked!  Then I tried some purple.

But I was getting some burn through, the edges were really rough.  Someone there suggested adding paper to the back to keep the burning felt from blowing back onto the cutting surface.  It worked!

Notice the difference between the left and right side.  Using paper made a much cleaner edge.

I haven’t bonded them onto the back of the jewelry, but they fit perfectly.  Lasers are awesome.  🙂
