Blinky Dragonfly Necklace

$180.00

The Dragonfly was the first piece we designed. 6 years of work and 10 design iterations later we think it perfectly balances geek and art.

16 amber LED lights in the wings are powered by 12 jewel-like small solar cells.
No batteries required, it will charge itself throughout the day off the surrounding light.

The base is comprised of fiberglass, so it is very lightweight despite its almost 4 inch wing span. Oh, and if you’re a geek on the run (or just forget to solar charge your bling), it also comes with a micro-USB connector. Rock!

Size: 3.75″ wide by 2.5″ tall
Solar Charge Time: 45 minutes
Optional USB Charge Time: 2 minutes
Lifespan in Darkness: 5 hours+

Description

And don’t fret if you’re not super tech-savvy — we’’ll include all the details and directions with the piece, so you can get the very most out of your jewelry. It’s also sealed in epoxy to protect it and hung on two gunmetal grey chains, standard length is 18″. Three inch extension included.

Operation:  I’m alive, I’m ALIVE!

  1. Flip the switch to the side labeled “Direct”. The power storage capacitors are now disconnected and I get my energy directly off the surrounding light. Sunlight is best, but not the only source I like.
  2. Flip the switch to the side labeled “Store”.  This connects the storage capacitors.
    1. Solar – find a light source I like and leave me under it for 30 minutes.
    2. Optional USB – plug me in. If the green light next to the USB is lit, I’m charging.  Wait 2 minutes till my other LED’s are really bright. I’m full.
  3. Store my energy for later by flipping the switch to “Direct”.

Endurance: In “Store” I’ll run about 6 hours on a full charge in complete darkness. In “Direct” I’ll blink as long as the room is bright.
